Canadian Light Source Extends Oct. 30th Public Open House Hours

Saskatoon, SK. - As the cap off to Synchrotron Month, the Canadian Light
Source is inviting the people of Saskatoon and area to a Public Open House
Saturday, October 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Organizers decided to extend
the open house hours by starting two hours earlier than planned in order to
enable as many visitors as possible to tour Canada's first synchrotron.

Self-guided tours, displays on the applications of synchrotron light, videos
and a computer corner will be featured. CLS scientists, engineers and staff
members will be on hand to answer questions.

The open house is seen as an opportunity for the CLS to say 'thank you' to
the community for their outstanding support and provide an opportunity to
tour the facility, in addition to regular weekly public tours.

The CLS is located on the University of Saskatchewan campus at 101 Perimeter
Road. The building is wheelchair accessible and parking is available in
front of the CLS and in designated overflow parking areas.

The last public open house was held in 2001, with approximately 4,000
visitors.

Regular public tours are held on alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Spaces on these tours can be reserved by going to the CLS website
www.lightsource.ca/tour, or by calling 657-3500. Special group tours or
synchrotron presentations may also be arranged.
