U of S Board Announces New Associate VP Student Affairs
After a national search, the University of Saskatchewan Board of Governors
approved the appointment of Dr. David Hannah as Associate Vice President
Student Affairs effective April 15, 2002. The appointment is for a five-year
renewable term.
Dr. Hannah will be responsible for the Registrar's Office and the Office of
Student Affairs and Services, which are currently being amalgamated.
Dr. Hannah holds a B.Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of
Calgary; an M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta;
and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Bowling Green
State University in Ohio.
He is currently working as the founding Director, Registrarial Services and
Registrar at the Technical University of British Columbia, a position he has
held since 1999. Previously, he held a number of administrative positions at
Red Deer College, Alberta, working on enhancements to student and
registrarial services. These included implementing a student-centred
approach to delivering student and registrarial services; managing the
implementation of the student information system; and co-ordinating student
counselling services.
Dr. Hannah has research interests in educational leadership, enrollment
management, the application of technology in registrarial/student services,
and legal issues affecting Canadian post-secondary students. He has
presented papers at conferences provincially, nationally and
internationally.
Dr. Michael Atkinson, Vice President Academic and Provost and Chair of the
Search Committee, said: "Dr. Hannah's background and experience, and his
energy and his affinity for students will be a great resource for the U of
S. He is the right person to provide strong leadership as we enter a new era
of planned enrolments with a focus on the total student experience. "
