The Kenderdine Art Gallery will host a touring exhibition of work by the
nationally acclaimed Saskatchewan artist Dmytro Stryjek. Poetic Vision is
organized by Regina's MacKenzie Art Gallery and is based on a major gift to
the gallery by the late Dr. Peter Millard, former Chair emeritus, English
Department, University of Saskatchewan and mentor to numerous artists
including Dmytro Stryjek. The exhibition surveys the distinctive and
sophisticated vision of this self-taught artist, showing not only his
intense engagement with landscape and atmospheric conditions but also the
influences of ecclesiastic architecture, icon paintings and portraiture on
his work.

The accompanying symposium will feature the exhibition's curator along with
a number of experts in the areas of art critique, curatorial work and
Ukrainian cultural studies.
