U of S Board announces new
Associate Vice-President (Academic)
The University of Saskatchewan has appointed a new Associate Vice-President
(Academic).
Dr. Mark Evered, currently Professor of Physiology and Acting Associate
Vice-President, will begin a five-year term as Associate Vice-President
(Academic) on July 1.
Dr. Evered was selected after a thorough search for qualified candidates.
The 10-member search committee, chaired by Dr. Michael Atkinson, Vice
President (Academic), advertised the position in several publications and
applications were gathered from across Canada.
Dr. Evered has held a number of administration positions on campus
including, Head, Department of Physiology (1994-1999), Chair, University
Committee on Animal Care and Supply (1995-1999), Director of Admissions and
Student Affairs, College of Medicine (1996-1999).
He is past recipient of the University Master Teacher award (1995) and the
pre-clinical Teacher of the Year award in the College of Medicine (1988,
1992, 1994 and 1997). He has also been an invited speaker internationally
and is published widely.
"Dr. Evered is both an exceptional teacher and an accomplished scholar,"
said Dr. Atkinson. "I look forward to working with him."
Dr. Evered holds a Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Western
Ontario and a B.Sc. (Honours Biology) from McMaster University.
